Nights of Azure [VITA/PS4/PS3]

Yoru no Nai Kuni details new characters, Rabbit transformation, Arena, more

This week’s Yoru no Nai Kuni update details two new characters, including a member of the holy knights, which main character Arnas belongs to, as well as a new (and cute) transformation for Arnas, an Arena side element, and more.

Get the details below.

New Characters

Corrine (voiced by Ayane Sakura)

0JfcYVD.jpg

A skilled and long-time member of the holy knights. As Arnas’ senior, she has provided her various advice since they’d first met. She appears honest and nobile, but can occasionally show a sadder face. She visits the art museum frequently, but the her reason for doing so is unknown.

Professor Arukado (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)

8pZyF0D.jpg

A young man who came to the “Ende” hotel. He calls himself a youma researcher, but his behavior is suspicious and Arnas doesn’t trust him. Despite his eloquent appearance, he chases down Arnas as a subject of his research.

Blood Power Weapons

Arnas can transform her blood into weapons to do battle. There are various forms of weapons her blood can transform into, and they’ll only increase depending on her level. If you change her weapon, not only will Arnas’ attacks change, but also the abilities granted to her subordinate demons.

Dagger

2dkZbC6.jpg

The Dagger allows for very quick attacks. It allows you to dish out attacks without giving the enemy a chance to counter. When using the Dagger, subordinate demons are granted the “Bleed Hit” ability, which inflicts the “Bleeding” status ailment on enemies, causing them to gradually lose HP.

Long Sword

qkK5PhE.jpg

The Long Sword allows for wide range attacks. It’s also possible to suck the blood of defeated enemies and increase your attack power depending on the amount you gather. When using the Long Sword, subordinate demons are granted the “Offensive Mode” ability, which enables them to continuously unleash attacks at the enemy. Their attack power is also further increased depending on the amount of blood sucked from the enemy.

Transformations

MoerVwq.jpg

As she battles, Arnas’ transformation gauge will increase. Her transformation depends on her party of subordinate demons. As seen in the “Deck Make” screen, which allows players to organize their party, if a certain number of the same transformation icon is shown at the bottom of each subordinate demon, Arnas will be able to transform into the form indicated by the icon.

Demon Form

6WjTiSf.jpg

A form that lets Arnas control blazing flames (and the first form we detailed). Her attacks allow her to scorch youma at both long and close ranges.

Rabbit Form

0ClkMM0.jpg

A cute form that specializes in close combat and flinging herself at the enemy. It’s a speedy form that can disrupt large groups of enemies.

Subordinate Demons

“Toy Sentinel” (Servant Type)

GQa5s8J.jpg

A subordinate demon that fights along Arnas like a geniune soldier. It puts Arnas before all else and rushes at the enemy with a single order.

“Wolf” (Attacker Type)

cI6osmg.jpg

An intelligent and quick-moving subordinate demon that specializes in techniques like charging and air-based tailspins. It can also paralyze enemies.

“Blader Soul” (Attacker Type)

b2y4XHU.jpg

A subordinate demon that steadily moves towards the enemy. He dishes out a lot of attacks, and doesn’t allow for counters. It’s small, but has a rustic personality.

Side Element: The Arena

I6DCSC3.jpg

One of Yoru no Nai Kuni‘s side elements is an Arena. The Arena can be found in the 99th basement floor of the Ende hotel. A number of “challenges” are being prepared for the arena, where players can enjoy special battles different from normal fights, and acquire rewards by clearing said battles. Whether it’s time limit, technique restrictions, chain competitions, or running through enemies in translucent labyrinths, Arena challenges can be difficult, but players can expect rewards suited to each challenge. There are also items that can only be obtained in the arena.

Yoru no Nai Kuni is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on August 27.

Yoru no Nai Kuni details game flow, Phantom transformation, more

This week’s update on Gust’s upcoming action RPG Yoru no Nai Kuni introduces the basic game flow, a new transformation for main character Arnas, more subordinate demons, and two new characters.

Get the details below.

The Daily Fight Against Jayou

To collect information, Arnas must battle jayou. Using the Ende hotel as her base to make preparations before battle, all is vital in order to protect Lyuritis. By defeating jayou and collecting information, the scrolls of the story will untie.

1) The Curia’s Orders

6GMAQXG.jpg

In order to protect Lyuritis, the chosen saint of the current era destined to seal away the Ruler of the Night in exchange for her life, Arnas is looking for a solution other than Lyuritis’ sacrifice. As she follows her orders from the Curia, information related to the Ruler of the Night will drop in.

2) Fight Alongside Your Subordinate Demons and Press for the Truth

6GMAQXG.jpg
To carry out the orders of the Curia, and to obtain information and clues to protect Lyuritis, Arnas continues to fight jayou. By doing this, Arnas will grow and the story will advance. For one mission, Arnas is tasked with looking for a hotel guest and assistant sent out to collect information for her who’s gone missing. During this mission, Arnas will need to bypass traps and collect clues before eventually reaching a giant jayou. In order to protect the assistant and receive the information he obtained, Arnas and her subordinate demons must defeat it.

3) Do Various Things at the Ende Hotel

XS4PaHk.jpg

After your battles against jayou, you can rest at the Ende Hotel. Your subordinate demons also live here, and in addition to getting a glimpse of their everyday lives, you’ll be able to organize them and such.

A New Contract: “Actualize”

hi8ySTE.jpg

By using “Yorishiro,” objects representative of a spirit, you can form a new contract with a subordinate demon. Depending on the type of Yorishiro you use, the subordinate demon you contract will be different.

Yorde Altar

You can go to the Yorde Altar from the hotel where you can talk to the Yorde shrine maiden and use blood to further grow Arnas.

Daytime Actions

2Lshj2I.jpg

Arnas can only do battle against jayou at night. But by selecting the actions she takes during the day, you can get skill points to learn new skills.

Arena

xRtS35J.jpg

At the Arena, Arnas and her subordinate demons can put their skills to the test. As you progress through the story, the contents of the arena will continue to increase.

Buying and Selling

c9uQnnG.jpg

You can buy and sell items from the Ende Hotel, which deals with various items related to subordinate demons. As you progress through the story, you’ll be able to put in orders for rare items from faraway regions.

Requests

bs21Hxn.jpg

You’ll receive a variety of day and night requests at the hotel. Although their contents mainly involve the subjugation of jayou, there are also some unusual requests. Clearing these requests will earn the player rewards, such as money or items.

Phantom Transformation

eQ7aZFK.jpg

Arnas’ latest transformation is the “Phantom Form.” This magician-looking transformation is a support form that specializes in long-range attacks, as well as HP and SP recovery.

Subordinate Demons

Promi (Magic Type)

AB785yn.jpg

A magic type with many fire-based techniques. When it idenifies the enemy’s weakness, it can exhibit unequaled strength. Despite its classification as a magic type, there are times when it thrusts itself into enemies, and it has a curious personality.

Mine Bomber
(Flattery Type)

wzOPGBJ.jpg

A flattery type that moves while rotating around Arnas. When its HP runs out, it goes out with a showy self-destruction. It appears it’s been through some intensive training as not to instantly explode. His motto is “Safety First.”

Ifrita (Support Type)

lMo4STf.jpg

A subordinate demon that produces fields to enhance the status of its allies. She comes from the same race as Gnomid (another subordinate demon) and has an older sister-like personality.

New Characters

Lloyd (voiced by Satoshi Hino)

OZrak3C.jpg

A traveling merchant who comes to the Ende Hotel. He’s a money-hungry realist who puts a price even on jayou. He often gives Arnas requests, but it’s all for his own benefit. He is often disgusted.

He knows a lot about jayou and the Curia, and seemingly has another side to him other than a merchant. There is a coffee faction, and Lloyd is always getting into pointless arguments with Professor Arukado because he doesn’t fit the tea lover personality.

Mistral (voiced by Eriko Matsui)

JcjuRaB.jpg

A stylish and voluptuous purebred youma that lives in the palace. She emits a sweet fragrance that confuses those who come through. Although she came to the island seeking the soul of the Ruler of the Night, she’s since secluded herself in the palace. It is said she sometimes goes out in search of something, but further details are unknown.
