News: Final Fantasy Details
Jun 12th 2003 19:43 by Ash

Some new details for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles have been announced.
In Japan yesterday Nintendo held a press conference regarding Square Enix's upcoming GameCube game, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.

The game only runs at thirty frames per second, compared to the usual sixty frames per second on most new games. The game does support progressive scan though and loading between areas may take four or five seconds. It was also re-stated that you will need to use the GBA to open up the multi-player option.

The game does have a single player mode in which you travel by yourself and when you defeat enemies there will be no experience points, just simply money, magic or items.

When you begin the game you will have a choice between single and multi-player mode. From there you will name your village as well as determine your character's name, hair colour, gender, race and parent's profession. A live-action cinematic will begin and you will be thrown into action. During the game it is also possible to play Multi-Player in some way.

*Verwirrt bin* :dizzy1:

October 22, 2002 - The most prominent absence from Square press conference, held Tuesday night in Tokyo, was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, the first GameCube title in the Final Fantasy series. Square mentioned the game in name only and handed out a few screenshots in its press kit. Video footage? The only FF game shown in moving form at the show was Final Fantasy X2 for the PS2.
We were able to learn a bit more about the game, though. You'll notice, first off, that we're now referring to the game as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles rather than the singlular Chronicle. That's the English name Square listed on its press material, so we're going with it.

Perhaps more importantly is the first bit of solid info on the game's GBA to GCN link-up. Square has been promising that the link up would give FF:CC new forms of communication. Today, we learned the nature of this communication. When linked up to the Cube, the Game Boy Advance replaces your controller. All your character information is displayed on the GBA screen, keeping it hidden from other players (up to four can play simultaneously). The communication results from you having to now shout out things like "I'm about to die! Use a healing spell!" and "Leave it to me! I'll use magic!".

Is that all there is to it? We certainly find ourselves hoping for a bit more. This news also leaves us wondering about the nature of the game itself, as the GCN controller, with its myriad buttons, triggers and analogue sticks can be apparently be replaced with a four button, digital D-Pad Game Boy Advance.

All should clear up as the game's Spring 2003 Japanese release nears, though. In the meanwhile, take a look at these new screens and artwork (which we admit are just slightly higher resolution versions of the old screens and artwork that we posted).

;) :) :love7:

GBA - GCN " Conectivity" (yuhu) REINBRINGEN; UM UNS ABZUZOCKEN
