Anime Dragon Ball Super (neue DB TV Serie)

Dragon Ball Super Manga Launches Next Month

Starting in July, Dragon Ball is back in the form of Dragon Ball Super! The exciting announcement was made last month by the Japanese animation studio behind the franchise, Toei Animation, who mentioned Dragon Ball Super would be an anime that will take place in the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu.

The July issue of Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine, which officially releases on Thursday, May 21 in Japan, is revealing Dragon Ball Super will also have a manga adaptation. The original story will be by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and the manga adaptation will be by Toyotaro, the person behind the official Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ movie manga and fan-made Dragon Ball AF.

The Dragon Ball Super manga launches in Japan next month and it’s expected to be officially published around June 20-21, so expect Dragon Ball Super spoilers to begin a few weeks before the anime’s release. Speaking of the anime’s release, it will begin to air on Japanese television in July on Sundays at 9:00 AM (which are Saturday nights in America). No specific date was mentioned, so we at Saiyan Island are assuming it will be the first Sunday, July 5th. Of course if it differs, we hope to let you know!

FUNimation, the company behind Dragon Ball in North America, has not yet announced any information about an English version of the anime, dubbed or subtitled. If things go as we hope them to, there should be an official version of Dragon Ball Super episodes on the web as soon as they air in Japan.

The story of Dragon Ball Super is still a mystery, but the announcement for the series does note it will “no doubt exceed everyone’s expectations.”

Dragon Ball Super Opening and Ending Theme Announced

Toei Animation, the studio behind the Dragon Ball series, has announced the artist and song for the opening and ending theme for Dragon Ball Super.

The opening will be titled “Chozetsu ☆ Dynamic!” (Chozetsu = Transcendence) and will be by Japanese singer/songwriter Kazuya Yoshii.

Yoshii is new to the Dragon Ball scene, but you may have heard him as part of the now defunct Japanese hard rock/glam rock group, The Yellow Monkey, who performed “Tactics”, the first ending theme for the Rurouni Kenshin anime. Below is a picture of Yoshii and the Yellow Monkey’s “Tactics”.

The ending theme will be by Japanese rock band Good Morning America and titled “Hello Hello Hello”.

Good Morning America is known to Dragon Ball Kai fans as they performed the third ending for the series, “Haikei, Zarathustra” (Haikei = Dear). You can take a listen to that song below and look at a picture of the group.

It’s important to note both “Chozetsu ☆ Dynamic” and “Hello Hello Hello” are currently unavailable and Dragon Ball Super may be the first time we get to listen to either as the singles will be available to purchase in Japan in August 2015, which is after the release of Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Super will be released this July on a Sunday sometime in the month. A specific date has not yet been announced, so we at Saiyan Island are assuming the first one of the month, July 5th. Of course we will let you know if a different date is announced. FUNimation, the company behind Dragon Ball in North America, has not yet announced any information about an English version of the anime, dubbed or subtitled. If things go as we hope them to, there should be an official version of Dragon Ball Super episodes on the web as soon as they air in Japan.

No story details have been announced for the series either except it will take place after the Majin Buu arc.

Goku From Dragon Ball Super Manga Unveiled

An image of Goku from Toyotarō's manga version of the upcoming Dragon Ball Super television anime series debuted on Thursday.

r5pUuAy.jpg

Toyotarō will launch the manga in the extra-large August issue of V Jump on June 20. Dragonball manga creator Akira Toriyama is credited with the manga's original story. Toyotarō previously drew the three-chapter manga adaptation of the recently released Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F (Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F') film.

Dragon Ball Super will premiere on Fuji TV and other channels in July on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. This will be the first new Dragonball television series since Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997. The story of the anime is set a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu, when the Earth has become peaceful once again.

Toriyama is also credited as the original creator of the new anime, as well as for "original story & character concepts." Toei Animation's Kimitoshi Chioka (Hakaba Kitarō, Kamisama Kazoku) is the series director, and Naoko Sagawa (Yomiko Advertising, Inc.) and Atsushi Kido (Toei Animation) join Nozaki as producers. Kido entered Toei just as the company was animating the Dragon Ball Z anime's Frieza arc.

A new film taking place after the Majin Buu Saga, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', premiered in Japan last month. The film will eventually screen in 74 countries worldwide. Funimation hosted the North American premiere of the film on April 11 in Los Angeles. The company plans to release the film in more theaters with an English dub this summer.

Dragon Ball Super Anime Begins July 5

The Dragon Ball anime returns with Dragon Ball Super! The initial announcement by Toei Animation revealed the series would begin on a Sunday in July, but no specific date was mentioned. We at Saiyan Island had suspected it may be the first Sunday, July 5 and today a new scan from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirms that to be true – The Dragon Ball Super anime begins July 5, 2015 in Japan at 9:00 AM (Japanese Standard Time)!

Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, is credited for the original story & character concepts for Dragon Ball Super. No details on the actual story, however, have been announced for at this point in time except it will take place after the Majin Buu arc. Episodes of Dragon Ball Kai’s Majin Buu arc are currently airing in Japan and the series is expected to end this month.

FUNimation, the company behind Dragon Ball in North America, has not yet announced any information about an English version of Dragon Ball Super, dubbed or subtitled. If things go as we hope them to, there should be an official version of Dragon Ball Super episodes on the web as soon as they air in Japan.

Dragon Ball Super will kick off with an opening be titled “Chozetsu ☆ Dynamic!” (Chozetsu = Transcendence) and will be by Japanese singer/songwriter Kazuya Yoshii. The ending theme will be by Japanese rock band Good Morning America, who has lent their talents to Dragon Ball Kai in the past, and titled “Hello Hello Hello”.

“Dragon Ball Super” Logo Revealed?

Despite the series debuting in just under a month’s time, so far we have received various, non-committal text splashes for Dragon Ball Super in online and magazine announcements.

Today’s episode of Dragon Ball Kai in Japan (Episode 156) continued the recent scroll of text promoting the forthcoming new TV series, but this time included stylized text that may be an actual logo:

0E3bbOi.jpg

If this is indeed the final logo, it appears to simply be the Dragon Ball Z anime’s logo sans-“Z” with a “Chō” (超) kanji slapped onto the end (along with the expected furigana and a “Super” bit of English text).

Dragon Ball Super, which begins airing 05 July 2015 on Fuji TV, is the first all-new TV series for the franchise in 18 years. The story and characters will be developed by original manga author Akira Toriyama, will star veteran voice actress Masako Nozawa, and will be directed by Kimitoshi Chioka. The series will, “…follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace.” A manga adaptation from “Toyotarō” will run each month in V-Jump starting in June.

Thanks to Ajay for the image capture!

Mangaadaption?
